This position will lead a sustaining team of scientists and engineers to improve production operations.
The manager leads a team to establish and refine operating specifications, improves manufacturing techniques and production yields, and introduces new processes to improve efficiencies.
The sustaining team will improve and monitor production processes via statistical process control (SPC), conduct technical problem-solving, perform failure analysis using root cause countermeasure techniques, solve process failures, and lead process improvements by initiating quality changes for continuous improvements.
A Day in the Life:
Lead a workforce consisting of professional salaried employees.
Employee development and welfare are also a key component of the management function.
Develop manufacturing engineers on project teams and continuous improvement efforts internally and externally to the site, our business partners, and other manufacturing sites with common processes.
Develop and drive accountability for daily tier metrics, as well as develop operating mechanisms to ensure targets are achieved on a day-to-day basis.
Participate actively in the PPI business system / continuous improvement activities and be responsible for PPI Kaizen and Productivity projects.
Typical activities supported at the facility range from well-established legacy product lines to new technologies and processes that require flexibility and innovative problem-solving.
The position supports ISO 13485 facilities and contains FDA-regulated manufacturing.
It shall be responsible for maintaining compliance through commissioning and validation support activities and ongoing sustaining activity.
Expect to engage with regulatory agencies and customers during inspections and audits.
Partnered with development and technical transfer teams to handle work for new product introductions and externally driven projects.
Inspire changes using risk-based approaches, such as pFMEAs and risk analysis techniques.
Responsible for implementing process control monitoring and trending, as well as Pareto charting to drive continuous improvements.
This role will be responsible for developing operating plans and budgets that include headcount, capital planning, and expenses for manufacturing support activities.
Keys to Success:
EducationBachelor s degree or higher in engineering or life science degrees such as biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, chemical engineering or related field.
Experience8
years of experience in operations, technical operations, and/or R&D sustaining.
Proven experiences in problem-solving, new introductions, process improvements, and manufacturing sustaining engineering activities.
Must have experience in supervising and leading scientific teams and have a strong understanding of ISO and cGMP quality requirements.
Proven track record of developing individuals and teams for domain expertise and leaders.
Experience with qPCR assays and oligo manufacturing processes and techniques is needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem solving abilities with key knowledge in Oligo chemistry.
